First Caribbean Odyssey yachts arrive in Mindelo, São Vicente

The Swiss catamaran Olena made landfall in the Cape Verdes at noon on Friday almost exactly one week after the start in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The slower than expected 830-mile passage was blamed on a mixture of strong winds of over 30 knots and a rough cross swell.

The crew of Olena relieved to have arrived.

Four hours later saw the arrival of the Australian yacht Sandro.

The last boat expected to arrive today is the French Tubalcain, with Serenity, Wilderness and Sina expected on Saturday.
