Before leaving Nuuk, I went to the port office to complete departure
formalities. I handed the pontoon keys to Johannes Lindenhann, the
harbour master who had so warmly welcomed us on our arrival.
‘I wish you a safe journey’, he said as he shook my hand firmly.
‘What about departure formalities? I asked, expecting a hefty bill for
our 3 week stay.
‘Nothing like that. We are happy to welcome visitors here… and how can
we charge anything when there are no facilities for yachts like yours?’
I thanked him and left, once again impressed by the hospitality and
warmth of the people in this small place, probably the coldest capital
in the world.
