An exciting program of activities has been organised for the BPO and PO sailors on the stunning Marquesan island of Ua-Pou on the 10th and 11th of April.
The Ua-Pou Tourism Committee, and the communities of Hakahau and Hakahetau, have organised two ‘Sailors Days’ of activities including:
10th April
– Welcome to the port of Hakahau with tasting of local fruits and drinking coconuts
– Circuit visit of the Valley with Tour Guide
– Discovery of the Cultural Center with Museum and demonstrations of Carving, Arts and Crafts and Local products from the Cooperative Te Oa Pohue No Ua-Pou
– Excursion in 4×4 to Hoihoi Beach
To see the famous “Flower Stones”, semi- precious stones that are found in only 2 places in the world, Brazil and Ua-Pou.
– Beach BBQ
11th April
– Welcome at the Chief’s Place of Hakahetau by the Parents of the Students Association
– Discovery of the student- initiated Marine Education Reserve with local Primary School students.
– Walking/hiking around the Boucle of Poumaka
– Vaiea Waterfall
– Petanque/Boules game with villagers
Followed in the evening by:
– Cultural dance performance at the site Te Tahuna
– Umu Kai: Traditional feast from the underground oven.
