Islands Odyssey Leaves Cape Verdes For Barbados

The Islands Odyssey yachts made their departure from the Cape Verdes on the morning of Tuesday 24 November, setting their course west for the Caribbean island of Barbados some 2020 nautical miles away.

Although most of the fleet were able to make a prompt morning start, a few met with minor mishaps on the way. Kwanza collided with a yacht that was not part of the Islands Odyssey, breaking a window and having to return to the marina to have it fixed. Velvet Hakuna Matata II and Optimus were delayed due to technical issues but are now en route. Blue Moon was also delayed and will depart shortly.

During their time in Mindelo Marina the crews had a few days to enjoy some Cape Verdes hospitality.

Next stop will be Barbados where the sailors can be sure of a warm Caribbean welcome!
