Serenity finally arrived in Martinique, after an exhausting crossing of 28 days since leaving Lanzarote, due to a succession of technical problems, losing the genoa and the autopilot.
Gordon and Sherry, without other crew to assist, had to spend long hours hand-steering, heaving to at night to rest.
Their satellite telephone also having broken down in the last days, they did not know that most of the Atlantic Odyssey boats, as well as the Cornell Sailing team, were still there to welcome them.
Mark of the catamaran Por Dos took in his dinghy Justin (Miss Behaving), as well as Pascale and Pascal Guiraudou (Cornell Sailing), to go to meet Gordon and Sherry at the finishing line. Justin boarded Serenity to help with the lines.
Very satisfied to have finally arrived, Gordon and Sherry quickly went to bed, having thanked everybody on the pontoon for this welcome surprise. They will then be ready to enjoy the very last Caribbean cocktail party organized this evening in the marina to celebrate the final Atlantic Odyssey finishers.
