Three aeroplanes, London to Copenhagen to Kangerlussaq and onwards to
Nuuk. It’s fine large airbuses with lots of people, but down to a small
37 person plane I was not particularly comfortable. Even though you
could feel how the plane angled and moved, the views were incredible,
with glaciers all running into a huge gulley, and ice sheets as far as
the eye could see.
When we finally arrived at Nuuk, as you step off the plane you get hit
by this wonderful feeling – I seriously hope it wasn’t just me – as the
air is so much fresher reminding me of cold water. Then you get hit by
the sudden change of environment…
No trees.
You think about the small fact that the landscape would look different,
but the reality is surreal.
