There was a full house for the London launch of the Blue Planet Odyssey held on Thursday 17 January at the Cruising Association headquarters. Among the 60 guests were ten owners intending to sail in the event, some accompanied by their crew, among them a family with two young children.

A 30 minutes presentation outlined the aims of the event and highlighted the effects of climate change on some of the endangered islands to be visited by the Blue Planet Odyssey. There was also a brief description of the types of boats, route chosen and reasons for joining the event by the 70 sailors who had so far registered their interest in taking part.

After a lengthy session of questions and answers, the would-be participants were introduced to each other and the rest of the evening passed in a convivial atmosphere.

The Blue Planet Odyssey was represented by John Ellis, Event Director, Doina Cornell, Event Coordinator and Pascal Guiraudou, Representative for France and French speaking countries.
