Jimmy Cornell attended a meeting at the Ministry of Tourism in Tenerife on Friday 10 January to discuss the level of support from the Canarian Government for the Atlantic and European Odysseys.

Ever since the launch of the first ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) in 1986, Jimmy Cornell’s sailing events have enjoyed a high level of support from both the Government and local authorities in the Canary Islands. As a result, all his events have made a point of always including the Canary Islands on their itinerary: the America 500 Columbus Quincentenary Rally in 1992, the Hong Kong Challenge round the world race in 1996, all four round the world rallies, including the Millennium Odyssey Canarias, which had as its main sponsor the Canaries Government.

The Blue Planet Odyssey and the newly launched European Odyssey will follow that example later this year, while the boats in the second Atlantic Odyssey are getting ready for the start on Sunday from Lanzarote to Grenada in the Caribbean.
