The crews of No Regrets, Maggie and Tawahus celebrated the successful completion of their round the world voyage at a party held at the Barbados Yacht Club in the presence of local dignitaries and participants in the Caribbean Odyssey.
The presence among the Blue Planet Odyssey sailors of Zeke Holland had a special significance as his previous landfall in Barbados had been with the first ARC in 1986.
A most appreciated gift for every skipper was one of the much coveted Mount Gay caps. The makers of this world-famous Barbados rum sponsor an estimated 170 yachts races all over the globe, and only those who have competed in one of those races is entitled to wear the distinctive red cap. A special exemption was agreed in the case of the Blue Planet Odyssey.
Zeke Holland and Bill Hickson, two of the tree owners of No Regrets, receive their Mount Gay caps, with Zeke also accepting the cap for the absent Tim Liveright.
Zeke Holland is also presented with a polo shirt bearing the BPO logo and that of Jimmy Cornell’s Aventura whose voyage through the Northwest Passage was part of the Blue Planet Odyssey project.
