{"id":24237,"date":"2015-03-29T20:23:03","date_gmt":"2015-03-29T20:23:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cornellsailing.com\/?p=24237"},"modified":"2015-04-08T22:11:01","modified_gmt":"2015-04-08T22:11:01","slug":"drina-move-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cornellsailing.com\/fr\/2015\/03\/drina-move-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Drina on the move again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After having completed a transit of the Northwest Passage in summer 2014 , <a href=\"http:\/\/cornellsailing.com\/sail-the-odyssey\/blue-planet-odyssey\/participants\/meet-the-participants\/#Drina\">Michael Thurston<\/a> spent the winter on his own, aboard his faithful yacht <em>Drina<\/em> at Dutch Harbor, in the Aleutian Islands. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/pages\/BPO-P-Drina.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He sent us this report today:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Left Dutch Harbor 8 days ago, very stormy weather so far, making for Fanning in the Line Islands, but may stop in Hawaii to get my sails repaired<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael was the only <em>Blue Planet Odyssey<\/em> participant <a href=\"http:\/\/cornellsailing.com\/2014\/09\/blue-planet-odyssey-yacht-successfully-completes-transit-northwest-passage\/\">to successfully overcome the notorious challenge of the Northwest Passage<\/a>, and he seems keen to join up somewhere with the main fleet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>I would certainly like to meet the other BPO boats, and also see you as you cross the Pacific.  I saw your itinerary and we could arrange to meet in the Northern Cooks<\/em>. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>He is also planning to join <em>Aventura<\/em> and the other <em>Blue Planet Odyssey<\/em> to some of the other South Pacific destinations:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c <em>I wouldn\u2019t mind going again to Tokelau.  I did call there 5 years ago and the anchorage was lousy, only one buoy off the main settlement, so I tied to it.  Only my crew went ashore for the day as I stayed to keep anchor watch<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>On the way to the Cooks I plan to call Canton in the Phoenix group, good harbour there and nice folks. Been there twice myself\u2026.
