The first two yachts from a combined fleet of 36 sailing boats arrived in Barbados late on Tuesday evening.
Sea Dragon had left Tenerife on 18 November and in spite of several days of light winds, completed the 2700 miles passage the Canary Islands in 17 days.

Sea Dragon was followed a few hours later by the New Zealand Rogue that had taken the alternative start from Mindelo in the Cape Verde Islands on 23 November.
As in previous years, these purely amateur events aimed at cruising sailors have attracted many families with children. Among a total of 135 sailors are several families with children with a total of 18 young sailors under 18 years of age.
The first children to make landfall in the Caribbean were Nathan, Bradley and Luke Tucker of Rogue. During the crossing of the Atlantic some of them have been communicating with children of similar ages from a number of schools in Barbados.
The next Atlantic Odyssey boat to arrive is the Swedish Voyageur due in the next few hours.
