Monday 4th\u00a0January saw the official launch of the Atlantic Odyssey II at a press conference held at the headquarters of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The press conference was attended by journalists from the local newspapers, Canarian television, the top management of the Port Authority, the president of the local yacht club, the manager of Marina Santa Cruz as well as the participants in the Atlantic Odyssey. This is the first of several transatlantic events organised by Cornell Sailing that from now on will start from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.\u00a0 Following the signing of a sponsorship agreement between the Port Authority of Tenerife and Cornell Sailing, the capital Santa Cruz has now become our new base in the Canaries.<\/p>\n

In the\u00a0evening, the Real Club Nautico de Tenerife hosted a welcome reception for all participants in the Atlantic Odyssey II in the elegant premises of this old established yacht club. Before the reception, Jimmy Cornell gave a talk on his successful transit of the Northwest Passage in the summer of 2015.<\/p>\n
