The Islands Odyssey<\/strong> yachts made their departure from the Cape Verdes on the morning of Tuesday 24 November, setting their course west for the Caribbean island of Barbados some 2020 nautical miles away.<\/p>\n

Although most of the fleet were able to make a prompt morning start, a few met with minor mishaps on the way. Kwanza<\/em> collided with a yacht that was not part of the Islands Odyssey, breaking a window and having to return to the marina to have it fixed. Velvet<\/em> Hakuna Matata II<\/em>\u00a0and Optimus<\/em> were delayed due to technical issues but\u00a0are now en route. Blue Moon<\/em> was also delayed and will depart shortly.<\/p>\n

During their time in Mindelo Marina the crews\u00a0had a few days to enjoy some Cape Verdes hospitality.<\/p>\n

Next stop will be Barbados where the sailors can be sure of a warm Caribbean welcome!<\/p>\n
