{"id":17430,"date":"2014-12-14T19:00:53","date_gmt":"2014-12-14T19:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cornellsailing.com\/?p=17430"},"modified":"2014-12-14T22:33:24","modified_gmt":"2014-12-14T22:33:24","slug":"serenity-safely-arrived-le-marin-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cornellsailing.com\/de\/2014\/12\/serenity-safely-arrived-le-marin-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Serenity safely arrived in Le Marin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Serenity<\/em> finally arrived in Martinique, after an exhausting crossing of 28 days since leaving\u00a0Lanzarote,\u00a0due\u00a0to a succession of technical problems,\u00a0losing\u00a0the genoa and the autopilot.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 690px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/AO1--arrival-141214-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">SERENITY after the finish line<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Gordon and Sherry, without other crew to assist, had to spend long hours hand-steering, heaving to at night to rest.<\/p>\n<p>Their satellite telephone\u00a0also having broken down in the last days, they did not know that most of the <em>Atlantic Odyssey<\/em> boats, as well as the <em>Cornell Sailing<\/em> team, were still there to welcome them.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 690px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/AO1--arrival-141214-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gordon from SERENITY welcomed by Pascal Guiraudou and the other participants<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mark of the catamaran <em>Por Dos<\/em>\u00a0took in\u00a0his\u00a0dinghy Justin (<em>Miss Behaving<\/em>), as well as Pascale and Pascal Guiraudou (<em>Cornell Sailing<\/em>), to go to meet Gordon and Sherry\u00a0at the finishing line. Justin boarded <em>Serenity<\/em> to help with the lines.<\/p>\n<p>Very satisfied to have finally arrived, Gordon and Sherry quickly went to bed, having thanked everybody on the pontoon for this welcome surprise.
