Preparations for the start on 10 January are gathering pace as most boats have now arrived in the capital of Tenerife. The latest to arrive on Wednesday morning at the end of nonstop passage from Rabat in Morocco was the German Damisa.
More than half of the 15 confirmed entries have been in Santa Cruz for several weeks enjoying the mild winter weather and even more so the various festivities and activities taking place here from before Christmas until Three Kings’ Day.
In between a few sailors managed to find the time to also deal with some jobs.

Most crews came together on Wednesday night for a pot luck dinner. It was a good opportunity to meet and get to know each other.
On the eve of Three Kings, a big carnival-type procession through the streets of Santa Cruz is scheduled for Thursday evening. We’ll report on it tomorrow.
