Nineteen days after the start in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the first boat in the Atlantic Odyssey, sailing under the Barbados 50 flag arrived in Bridgetown to a warm welcome.
The multinational crew of Jojo, Australian skipper, two Austrians and one South African
Light winds and several days of calms had considerably slowed down the fleet of 22 boats, some of which had to stop in the Cape Verde Islands to fill up with fuel or to effect repairs.
Six of those boats only left Mindelo in the last few days and still have at least 1200 miles to their destination. The next three boats are expected to arrive Friday morning.
