The start of the European Odyssey in Hamburg

Klaus Hympendahl (Cornell Sailing) saying goodbye to the Triton crew

The start of the very first European Odyssey took place in the City Sporthafen right in the heart of Hamburg. One can see the old and the new landmarks of Hamburg: the Sankt Michaelis Church, and the nearly finished new Elbphilharmonie. Every participant was excited by this fantastic mooring place.

On a wonderful warm summer day the yachts started for their first leg of 56 nautical miles for Cuxhaven. This was their only stop over before sailing the 400 nautical miles to London.
